Super DJ Dmitry (Deee-Lite)

Country: US

Super DJ Dmitry of Deee-Lite, and currently Nauti Siren, continues to bring his unmistakable, eclectic party energy to dancefloors around the world. Born in the Ukraine, Dmitry Brill aka Super DJ Dmitry moved to New York in 1979, where he quickly immersed himself in the city’s underground club scene. Arriving at a pivotal moment in time, he witnessed first-hand both the birth of hip hop and the evolution of the largely black and gay funk and disco scene, into the dance and electronic music explosion that followed in the 1990s. Dmitry’s journey into nightlife started from the ground up. He first worked as an elevator operator at the legendary Danceteria, later becoming a go-go dancer at Pizza-a-Gogo— dancing on top of pizza ovens as the day time pizza joint transformed into a club after dark. He soon found his way behind the decks, landing a DJ residency at New York’s Pyramid Club. The iconic club, known for its eccentric crowd and drag shows, bridged disco, art and fashion and had a huge influence on Dmitry as a performer.
