Sierra Steele is a clinical herbalist, medicine maker, and avid forager based on the Southern Gulf Islands. Her journey into plant medicine began in 2015, and after completing her Diploma of Phytotherapy at Pacific Rim College, Sierra started a herbal practice and product business called Earth and Bone Botanicals. Sierra's passion lies in "bioregional herbalism", understanding and working with the healing plants that grow naturally in our own backyards. She creates most of the remedies used in her herbal practice from local plants she either grows or forages from the forests around her home. Sierra’s guided plant walks are designed to be slow, sensory, and highly interactive. Sierra combines advice on how to safely identify, harvest, and craft remedies from local plants, while inviting participants to sample medicines made from the plants they discover. In her workshops, Sierra fosters an inclusive, hands-on environment that empowers participants to build a deeper, reciprocal relationship with the local land and the plants growing right in their backyards. Her teachings blend traditional folk herbalism with evidence-based medicine to help participants understand how local plants can support their health and well-being.
