Plan your Journey: our top tips for what to watch out for on the road to Shambhala

It’s less than a week away

In just a few days we’ll be welcoming you home for #shambhala2019.

Below find some important arrival information to make sure there are no hiccups as you make your way toward the farm.

By logging in, you can easily view all your order items online, make changes to your contact information (address, phone number, upload your photo), transfer tickets & ShambhaLodging packages, print or download your Electronic Ticket. Simply log in to access and manage your order online! Click here to log in.

Please, don’t forget to transfer your additional tickets and attach a name to your ticket.

  • Printing or downloading your official 2019 Electronic ticket locks your name to the ticket. The name on the ticket MUST match the government-issued photo ID of the person using it. No exceptions.
  • You cannot print or download your friend’s Electronic tickets, even if you are arriving together. If you have purchased multiple tickets, you are required to transfer them to your friends prior to the festival. Each ticket needs to be associated with a unique name and email address. Our system won’t allow you to print or download a ticket other than your own
  • Please ensure the Lodging package is in the name of the person arriving first in your group
  • Print and place your ShambhaLodging placard on the dashboard of your vehicle prior to the festival. This will identify you as a Lodger to our Gate teams and give your vehicle access to the express entry lane
If you encounter any problems please see our E-Ticket FAQ here.

Want to beat the rush? We want you to be as comfortable as possible. Early entry starts Tuesday, August 6th, 2019 at 8am (PST).

Early admission cannot be purchased in advance and is collected in cash as you enter into the festival.

Prices can be found here.

Please do NOT arrive before Tuesday at 8 am.

Those who do arrive before Tuesday at 8 am will be placed in a holding lot and will be processed AFTER those who arrive at the correct time.

Security and police will be monitoring the surrounding areas.

All General Admission tickets include access to the Salmo River Ranch from Friday 8 am (PST).

Crossing an international border?

You will need a valid passport to enter or leave Canada.

Travel insurance is recommended if you are visiting from another country.

Depending on your point of origin we would advise you not to use the Nelway border crossing unless necessary. This border crossing can experience long delays and heavy traffic. The Waneta or Paterson border crossing is recommended.

Please note: If you have a DUI in the USA, it’s unlikely that Canada Border Services will allow you into Canada.

Click here for a full list of CAD/US border crossings.

If you have any questions about crossing the border, or if you would like to see your closest borders hours, please visit CBSA’s website.

Take care when driving on the highway to and from the festival and ensure that you have a safe driver and co-pilot to navigate the journey home.

Keep an eye out for rainbow flagging tape, signalling that you are 500m away from the turn into the Salmo River Ranch.

When you see the rainbow flagging tape please start slowing down, use your signal and prepare to stop.

Please do not brake suddenly. Ensure the vehicles behind you have ample time to slow down.

Additionally, please do not park on the highway.

Parking on the highway and congregating in rest areas is dangerous and places a strain on the traffic systems.

Those who are found parking on the side of the highway or congregating in rest areas will be removed by the police and access will be delayed.

Please note that semi-trailers are not permitted to make a left turn onto the property in order to keep laneways clear. Semi-trailers travelling the East or South must continue to Salmo, then turn around in order to make a right turn into the farm.

Please try to avoid making U-Turns on the highway. If you must turn around, please exit the highway to safely make your turn.

There are two junctions on Highway 3 and 6, depending on if you are westbound or eastbound. We advise you to reset your odometer once you reach either Salmo Junction or Nelway Junction so you can see how far you are from the driveway and when you need to begin to slow down.

Salmo Junction: 5.8 km

Nelway Junction: 8.2 km

Make sure your vehicle is in good working condition (brake lights working, etc). We expect that there may be police roadblocks in and around the Salmo River Ranch. Do not drive your vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances. Though Cannabis is legal the scent of marijuana could give police probable cause to search your vehicle.

All vehicles will be subject to a thorough security check upon entry.

You can find more information about our banned items here.

Wait times to get into the festival are variable and difficult to predict. It could be as little as a few minutes (more likely from Friday onwards) or several hours. If you arrive for Early Entry, be prepared for long wait times (between 6 and 12 hours) as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are our highest volume entry days. Come prepared for the heat of the day. We recommend having sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, appropriate clothing for day and night temperatures, lots of water (4L per person), at least one substantial meal, and snacks. For extra comfort, consider keeping a couple of ice packs and a spray bottle (to mist yourself and others) in your cooler.

Above all be patient, you’re home.
