We hope you’ve enjoyed our Crew Appreciation Month features throughout the month February. We know a lot of you loved getting to know the people behind the scenes, and we’ll make sure we share more content about the attendees and crew who make the magic happen in the future.

As you’ve seen, it takes a diverse cross-section of people to come together and make Shambhala Music Festival happen. Our crew members are highly trained professionals, students, teachers, locals, from far away, young, old and everything in between. The one thing we all have in common is the deep satisfaction that comes from being a part of something so special, and so much bigger than ourselves.

F&B: Blaze Burgers, Pucker Up, Pasta Joint, Oink & Crew Kitchen

Position Available: F&B Managers
Position Type: Seasonal
Location: Nelson, BC and Salmo River Ranch

Job Description:
Our F&B managers at Blaze Burgers, Pucker Up Lemonade, Pasta Joint, and Oink Pulled Pork organize and execute the successful operation of these food service locations. You will oversee all functions of your Crew to ensure accurate planning and preparations lead to a quality food and beverage experience and top-notch products for our hungry and thirsty guests. This position requires at least 3 years experience in retail and cash management, at least 3 years experience managing a team of 10 or more, 5 years or more high-volume food service experience, mandatory Food Safe certification, previous experience working in a festival setting and office administration experience is an asset. If you have plenty of F&B experience and are ready to “run the ship” at one of Shambhala’s signature vendors, we want to hear from you.

Job Description:
Serve it, grill it, babe, watch it, turn it, squeeze it, stop, then strain it. Our Food & Beverage teams have positions available in all roles at Blaze Burgers, Pucker Up, Pasta Joint, and Oink. If you have food service experience, you’ll be right at home on our F&B crew. We are looking for Grillers, Food Prep, Servers, Cashiers and more. All F&B workers require Food Safe certification, at least one-year kitchen experience, and festival experience is an asset.

 

Position Available: Crew Kitchen Cooks
Position Type: Seasonal

Starts: July & August 2018

Job Description:
The Crew Kitchen is the heart of the festival workforce. It helps nourish, energize and motivate our Crew members. Cooks are responsible for cooking and serving meals for the entire festival workforce. We start out small and scale to large-scale catering. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure quality food service and effective distribution of meals. Food is love, and this is one of the most crucial positions on the festival site. For this position, Food Safe certification mandatory, experience working in a kitchen is required, experience cooking for crowds of up to 800 on a 24/7 schedule is a great asset and previous festival experience is also an asset.

 

Sales and Marketing

Position Available: Sales Associate
Position Type: Full Time Year Round
Location: Nelson, BC
Starts: Immediately

The Sales Associate is a results-driven sales representative whose responsibility is to actively seek out and engage customer prospects. You will provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer in order to boost top-line revenue growth, customer acquisition levels and profitability.

 

Tech

Position Available: Desktop Support Technician
Position Type: Temp
Location: Salmo River Ranch
Starts: August 2018 (showtime)

The Desktop Support Technician is on standby to be dispatched to assist with technical issues on the festival site. Applicants must have software experience with all relevant computer platforms, computer hardware experience with printers, laptops, routers, network switches etc. They must be able to problem solve and implement solutions, be flexible, able to respond to changes in working conditions and able to handle stressful situations.Customer service relations and Festival experience is an asset.

Position Available: Finance Assistant
Position Type: Seasonal
Location: Nelson, BC & Salmo River Ranch

Job Description:
The Finance Assistant will oversee, receive, and sort all information in regards to monies owing to/from the festival and is responsible for entering this information into Quickbooks. They will handle all accounts payable and accounts receivable related data entry, utilizing databases, spreadsheets, and Quickbooks accounting software, assist Finance Clerk with various clerical duties, help train temporary employees for during the event regarding finance procedures/processing, and enter expenses and income under the appropriate project numbers for budget tracking and accountability. Applicants should have experience working with QuickBooks or Simply Accounting software, above average computer skills with at least 2 years experience working with databases, at least 2 years experience working in office administration or bookkeeping and festival experience is an asset.

 

Site

Position Available: Site Assistant
Position Type: Seasonal
Location: Salmo River Ranch
Starts: July 2018

Job Description:
The Assistant Site Manager helps the Site Manager ensure daily safety meetings, roll call, timekeeping requirements are being met. They will assist in the deployment of crews and supervise special projects, as well as managing safety and infrastructure for staff and guests. They will manage and maintain the existing and new physical infrastructure for all operating systems and manage all resources for optimal operational and logistical efficiency. This position requires at least 8 years’ experience in construction/project management or similar related fields, at least 2 years’ experience in the events industry (can be inclusive of the construction/project management experience), good computer skills (e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and a valid Class 5 driver’s license with abstract.

 

Human Resources

Position Available: HR Assistant
Position Type: Seasonal
Location: Nelson, BC & Salmo River Ranch
Starts: Immediately

Job Description:
This position will assist the Human Resources department in facilitating communications and day-to-day operations. General duties include assisting with office clerical duties such as filing/organizing, prepping paperwork, data entry, and other administrative tasks, interviewing applicants, hiring, building and assigning schedules in Shiftboard, sending contracts, assist with the development and organization of training materials for all crew and additional support and supervisory roles during showtime. Successful applicants will be outgoing, have above average computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, Google: Mail, Calendar, Documents, and experience with office administration or receptionist work and experience with festivals and events an asset.
