Share the #shambhalove: why we support Coldest Night of the Year

Have you ever been so cold you couldn’t feel your fingers? Imagine if you didn’t have a place to call HOME

This holiday season Shambhala Music Festival is pleased to announce its formal support for Coldest Night of the Year, Nelson, which helps fund affordable housing in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. Funds raised in this area stay in the community under the umbrella of Nelson Cares, who support the local homeless population, offer shelter services, affordable housing for those in need, and work toward creating a more inclusive society.

Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide walk, with events in 136 communities across Canada. It asks local communities to put together teams, raise funds, and walk 2 – 10km in the cold on Feb. 22.

For the last three years, funds collected locally have gone directly to Nelson Cares to support affordable housing projects. This year, the donations will move toward individuals in need.

Teams and walkers register online to set up their teams and raise funds.

Since 2011, CNOY has raised over $20 million supporting 132 charity partners across Canada. You can find more information about an event in your community, start a team or donate funds here.

Please consider supporting those in need in your community this holiday season. It’s just one more way you can continue to spread the Shambhalove this holiday season.
