CA Month – Eddie Hermanovics & Kate Dowton: “I’ve learned to be more positive.”

Welcome back to our Crew Appreciation series. It takes a community of dedicated, passionate individuals to help create the magic of Shambhala. We are so fortunate to host talented crew members from across the globe as we all come together on the Farm to turn dreams into reality. Over the next few weeks, we will be featuring influential members from various teams on the Farm. Today’s featured crew are engaged couple Eddie Hermanovics & Kate Dowton who make the trip from Northern Ontario each year for their “Workvacation”.

SMF: What does Shambhala mean to you?

EH: For me, it’s simple–Freedom!

KD: Shambhala means acceptance from everyone, friendship, farmily and love. I don’t just go every year for the people or the music, but for the sense of home that I get the moment I step foot on the farm.

 

SMF: What have you learned from being Shambhala Crew that you apply to your daily life?

EH: I’ve learned to be more positive. I give more than I used to. And I make connections with people more easily. Shambhala will really bring you out of your shell!

KD: I feel like I am much more positive at work and home, always trying to inspire others to be positive as well. It’s helped me feel more confident in myself as well, not caring as much about what other people say or think of me.

 

SMF: What keeps you coming back to work on the SMF Crew?

EH: Every summer, I travel from Northern Ontario for my “Workvacation”. I meet energetic young people every year, which makes me feel young in return. The environment is the most accepting and positive experience anyone could imagine. The Crew you work, play and grow with make you a better person. And it happens every year! Every year I participate, I feel a new energy. I always sleep better, eat better, and feel better at Shambhala. It’s the best “reset” button you could ask for.

KD: Every year I get to meet so many great people who all have the same goal in mind: making this year’s Shambhala the best that it can be. It inspires me to be the very best that I can be, and to continue each coming year as part of the crew.

 

Join Eddie in the Food & Beverage department. From Beverage Kiosks to the Ice Truck to the Coconut Lounge and more, Shambhala has plenty of work opportunities in this department. Customer-service oriented cashiers are a vital part of our food and beverage operations. Join us to refresh the Farmily!
